Ekwendeni Hammers FC

Our History

Ekwendeni Hammers FC started as a social club in Ekwendeni Township in 2008. Ekwendeni Township is located along the M1 road about 22 kilometres from.Mzuzu city on the way to Rumphi.
 
In 2010 the team qualified for the finals of a local trophy organized by one of our legislators and won the trophy.
 
In 2011 the team participated and excelled in the Mzuzu Coffee trophy.
 
This gave the club the motivation to join the Northern region Premier League in 2012.
 
From 2015 the team played in the then Simama premier League which is a regional qualifier league into the elite Super League. The finishing positions in the league were as follows;

In 2019 the team got to  #1 and were the regional champions, earning promotion into the country’s elite league  the Super League of Malawi.
 
In the maiden season, Ekwendeni Hammers did very well in the Super League and got to the final of the biggest national cup tournament in the country, the FDH Cup.
 
 
The club is now in its third season in the League as we write and has progressed beyond being a regional force to one of the country’s elite clubs, the team every young talented player in the country wants to play for, the team no opponent wants to face. Off the pitch, Ekwendeni Hammers is recognized as the most innovative team, the most progressive team, the team that would give value for money to any sponsor or partner. In the 2021 Season the club earned an accolade as one with the most organised game management for that season.
